Camera or Microphone not Working in Microsoft Teams
Check privacy settings:
To use your mic in Teams, you might need to change privacy settings on your device or on the web to give Teams access to it.
š§ Enable Microphone and Speaker Access in Windows Privacy Settings

Step 1: Open Privacy Settings
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Go to Privacy & security.
- Under App permissions, select Microphone.


Turn on the access toggle.

Step 2: Allow Microphone Access
- Make sure Microphone access is turned on.
- Ensure Let apps access your microphone is on.
- Scroll down and confirm that Microsoft Teams is enabled in the list.

Step 3: Allow Speaker Access (System Sound)
- Thereās no specific privacy toggle for speakers, but ensure:
- The correct output device is selected under System > Sound.
- The volume is not muted or too low.
- The device is not disabled in Control Panel > Sound > Playback tab.
If Microsoft Teams appears in the list below, make sure its toggle is turned on.
Close all apps and restart your device.
Ensure proper device is selected in Teams:
Menu>Settings

Devices > Audio Settings (for selecting microphone) or Video Settings (for selecting camera). Select appropriate device (most likely your webcam for desktop PCs

On the web:
Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Site Settings > View permissions and data stored across sites.
From here, enter āteams.microsoft.comā in the Search field.
Open the "Microsoft.com" group and scroll down to find "teams.microsoft.com" and select it.
Here, set the Microphone and Camera to Allow access to these devices.
